About Make Local
What is Make Local?
Make Local is an online marketplace that creates a flexible, local 3D printing production network. We connect individuals and small businesses who own 3D printers ("Makers") with users needing 3D printed items ("Customers").
Our Mission
Our primary goal is to address the underutilization of 3D printing capacity by leveraging the unused potential of personal and small-business 3D printers. In the EU, many of these printers are idle for much of the time. By enrolling everyday owners of 3D printers, we seek to unlock massive latent capacity, potentially offering a competitive pricing advantage and enabling scalability for large orders by parallelizing across many small printers.
The platform aims to function as a responsive, decentralized factory, helping to solve long lead times for clients needing flexible production. Our unique value proposition centers on versatility and responsiveness, offering a solution for on-demand manufacturing.
How It Works
Make Local combines the scale of a hobbyist network with formal quality standards, creating a blend of a community-driven marketplace and formal quality standards.

This includes user registration, job posting and browsing, job acceptance, and initial payment handling. Our emphasis is on proving the community concept and building a solid technical backbone.
Innovation in 3D Printing
The platform leverages the incredible diversity of 3D printing technology available today, from consumer FDM printers to professional SLS systems becoming accessible to smaller businesses. We support various technologies including:
- FDM/FFF printers with different extruder configurations and material capabilities
- Resin printers (SLA/MSLA/DLP) with varying resolutions and light sources
- Powder bed fusion systems (SLS/MJF) for professional applications
- Specialized technologies like ceramic extrusion and material jetting
Material science innovation enables expanding applications, and our platform connects you with Makers who have access to affordable, high-performance materials across all these technologies.
